The Role of the Husband in the Family

October 28th, 2007

Ephesians 5:25-27

One of the great battle cries of the Protestant Reformation was Sola Scriptura. Scripture alone is the Christian’s rule for all of faith and life. For followers of Christ, the Bible provides practical information on how to live. In this first of two sermons on the role of the husband and the wife, Pastor Don reviews the role of the husband in the family based on Ephesians Chapter 5.

Justification, Pt 1

October 21st, 2007

Romans 8:30; Galatians 3

In this sermon, Pastor Tony describes the law as a mirror to show us our sins and to point us to the Savior. The law was not given as a means for people to earn their way to heaven. God’s Word clearly teaches that no one can be or has ever been justified by his or her own work. For salvation, Old Testament saints looked forward to the Coming Redeemer, and we look back to the Lamb of God who was slain for the sins of the world.

Faith

Romans 8:29-30; Acts 16:30-31

Genuine repentance and saving faith are the two sides of the same coin of salvation. Conversion consists of both repentance and faith. This sermon is a continuation of Pastor Tony’s series on Paul’s Letter to the Romans. By examining Acts 16:30-31 along with other Scripture sources, this sermon looks at what it means to believe in the Lord Jesus Christ—what it means to have faith.

Repentance

A good summary of the requirements of the Gospel are found in Acts 20:21. In this verse, the Apostle Paul encapsulates the Gospel’s requirement as first repentance and second faith. These are the twin requirements of the Gospel. Pastor Tony covers the first of these, repentance, in this sermon.

Regeneration

September 30th, 2007

Romans 8:28-30; John 3

Regeneration is one step in salvation that is not listed in Romans 8:29-30 but is clear from other parts of Scripture including John chapter 3. The Scripture teaches that the natural man will not respond to God’s call to salvation. A spiritual heart transplant leading to regeneration is required to respond to the call of the Gospel.

The Rythm of Life

September 2nd, 2007

Genesis 1 & 2  In Genesis 2:15, God’s blessing of work is recorded in Scripture. Like the rhythm of music, so life has a rhythm. In this sermon, Pastor Don describes the rhythm of God’s creation or the “rhythm of life.” God created the world in six days and rested one day—this is the rhythm of life. By moving in step with the rhythm of life, Christians are more content and more at peace with God.

The Necessity of Serving God Now

August 26th, 2007

Ecclesiastes 12:1-8  The book of Ecclesiastes appears to be filled with despair, hopelessness, and pessimistic philosophy. When studied, however, Ecclesiastes proves to be filled with Gospel truth. In this sermon, Pastor Aaron unfolds the truth presented in the book of Ecclesiastes by King Solomon, namely, that all men and women who do not acknowledge, embrace, and serve God will be confined to lead a meaningless and empty life.
