In this introduction to his summer sermon series, Pastor Tony examines the author, date, recipients and focus of this letter and then provides a brief overview of James.
In this message, Pastor Tony unpacks the biblical doctrine of ‘the perseverance of the saints.’ God’s people — those whom the Father has given to Christ, i.e., the elect — are eternally secure because of the ‘preservation of the saints’ by God’s almighty power.
In this look at the Eighth Commandment, Pastor Don brings out that this commandment is far more broad than we think. The sins forbidden and the duties required in this commandment are brought out. All of us break this commandment regularly, thus we need the grace of Christ for forgiveness and the grace of Christ to better keep this commandment in our daily lives.
In this message, Pastor Tony looks at the “five unanswerable questions” (to borrow Dr. John Stott’s phrase) that the apostle Paul raises in verses 31-37. With these five questions, Paul underscores his point that no one and nothing can harm those whom God has foreknown, predestined, called, justified and glorified. Instead, “we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”
